This chapter talks about how leaders need to lead with care. As leaders, we need to listen to others and encourage them. The book says that "people don't care how much you know until they know how much you care." I think this statement is great advice because we can be the most knowledgable, talented leader, but if we don't care about others, nobody will listen to us. Worship leaders need to listen to the congregation (student body) so that they feel heard and valued.
I think this chapter is so relevant for us as worship leaders at valley. We need to be respectful and caring to others and encourage each other. When students give advice or suggestions, we need to take them into account. I need to work on leading with care and valuing others' opinions. It's easy just to breeze through a rehearsal and tell everyone what to do, but I need to lead with care and make sure everyone's opinions are heard and that nobody feels unimportant.
